Henry HOBKIRK was born January 5, 1877 in Rock Township, Iowa. He is the son of Robert HOBKIRK and Lousia CAMPBELL.
Henry HOBKIRK married Marie Rogena SCHWANDT 2 December 1908 at Austin, Mower County, Minnesota. Marie Schwandt's mother was named Henrietta Fishback(born 17 November 1867 in Germany and died 14 July 1940 in Livonia, Sherbourne County Minnesota from Tuberculosis). In the 1920 census living with Henry were Marie's mother Henrietta and Marie's brother August and sister Lydia Schwandt.
Henry remained in the Lyle area where he raised his three children. He operated a sawmill and farm near Lyle. In the 1940's, he lived in a one room apartment in an old abandoned chicken hatchery in Lyle. Henry died 13 February 1947 and is buried at Woodbuty Cemetery near Lyle.
Marie Rogena Schwandt died 30 December 1916 in Lyle, Mower County, Minnesota and is buried in Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle, Mower County, Minnesota.
Henry and his wife farmed in Lyle Township, Mower County Iowa. They had 3 children.

at a sawmill that his
father operated as a young man. At age 16 he began working as a hired hand
on farms in Minnesota and
Iowa. Lee passed away in Osage, Iowa on 22 October 2004

Haukum on March 28, 1936 In Osage, Iowa. They
had two daughters, Jean L. Haukum, who
was born 20 January 1937 and Arlene Joce Haukum,
born 9 May 1938. Both were born in Austin,
Minnesota. Jean died 23 January 1999 and is
buried at Hillcrest Cemetery, Oakland,
Iowa. Arlene Joyce Haukom was born 9 May 1938 in
Austin, Mower County, Minnesota and she
died 31 May 1999 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Jean L. Haukum married Dean Martin on
18 May 1957 at Austin, Mower County, Minnesota.
On 20 August 1960 Arlene married Dennis
Dienst. at Austin, Minnesota. Rudy Haukum was
born 20 January 1912 on a farm in Vernon
Township, Dodge County, near Hayfield, Minnesota.
Rudy's parents were Lauritz E. Haukum
and Olena Louise Berge. Freda passed away on 19 April 2007
From the 1930 census the only people in the household were Henry's mother-in-law and his daughter Freda.

Freda Katherine Haukom, 93, , of Austin, Minn., died Thursday, April
19, 2007 at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center.
She was born Nov. 30, 1913, in Lyle, Minn., to Henry and Marie (Schwandt)
Hobkirk. She attended Lyle country school until eighth grade. She married
Rudy Haukom March 28, 1936. The couple owned the Chanity Nook Restaurant
in the 1940s. She also worked at Hormel Foods for 15 years, was a homemaker
and helped her husband on the family farm.
In their retirement years, the couple spent the winters in Mesa, Ariz., and
summers at their lake home on Ten Mile Lake at Hackensack. In her spare time
she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and fishing. She was a member of St. Olaf
Lutheran Church in Austin and Hope Lutheran Church in Walker, Minn.
She is survived by her husband, Rudy of Austin; one son-in-law, Dean Martin
of Oakland, Minn.; one sister, Myrtel Peters of Bakersfield, Calif.; nine
grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters Jean Martin and Arlene Dients;
three grandchildren; and one brother, Lee Hobkirk
Funeral services were held April 23 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with The
Rev. Kristi Koppel officiating. Interment was at Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
Clasen-Jordan Mortuary of Austin, Minn., handled arrangements.
