Elspeth Isabel Wetherley HOBKIRK was the daughter of Clarence John HOBKIRK and Nora BOSANQUET .
Elspeth was born 17 May 1903 in Shenfield, ESS, England. She was educated at Sandecotes School and Slade School of Art. Prior to World War II she served First Aid Nursing Yeomanry. She transferred to ATS(later WRAC). She retired as a Colonel and Assistant Director WRAC. She joined the prison service and was Governor of Greenock Womens prison, Scotland. In 1968=CBE. She received an Honoury Doctor of Law degree from Glasgow University in 1969 and was also the Scottish Woman of the Year in 1969.
