Molly married John WILLIAMS

Molly HOPKIRK and John WILLIAMS had the following children:

A son, adopted by the father's side of the family

Barbara Mary Hayden Williams, adopted by Jessie HOPKIRK & Francis Butler HOPKIRK.

On 30 March 1916 Wilfred Lionel Kemp WILLIAMS filled out an OFFICERS' DECLARATION PAPER for the CANADIAN OVERSEAS EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. Wilfred is listed as residing in Armenrico, Oshawa. His birth is listed as 27 December 1883, father is Richard S. Williams of 55 Lonsdale Road, Toronto. His occupation is bank clerk and his religion is Church of England. He belongs to the 109th Regiment.

A branch of the family descended from a cousin of Molly's, thought that both Molly and her husband died in an automobile accident and that is why both children were adopted by their aunts and uncles. However, descendants of Molly and Wilfred say that Molly died of influenza 10 days after Barbara was born, and Mr. Williams died shortly after that of mustard gas poisoning received while fighting in World War I. The direct descendants account probably carries more weight.

We have now found the actual death records, and the above accounts are fairly close. Following is the information from the death records:
