JESSIE HOPKIRK AND FRANK CRANDALL

Our thanks goes to Priscilla Miller, of New Jersey, for much of the information on the descendants of this couple.

Jessie(7) HOPKIRK was born October 5, 1849 in Bonaparte, Iowa, and died in 1941.  Jessie was the eldest child of Walter(6) HOPKIRK and Mary Ellen MOFFATT.  She married Frank CRANDALL on 12 Jan 1870. To learn more about Walter Hopkirk, Mary Ellen Moffatt, their parents and the Crandalls, please click on this link.   As of 1880 census, Jessie and Bejamin Franklin(Frank) CRANDALL were living in Henry, Windsor County, Missouri, along with their 4 year old daughter Nellie, and a 19 year old male named James COLLINS.   Frank is listed as an Hotel Keeper.

They had the following children:

Edward Oscar CRANDALL, died in infancy

(One of the boys died at age 16 months after deveoping bronchitis, which became pneumonia. The illness lasted about 6 or 7 weeks.)

Nellie Josephine CRANDALL was born in Sweet Springs, Saline County, Missouri. Nellie applied to become and was accepted as a member in April 1914 of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution via her paternal lineage of Benjamin Franklin Crandall. Her national number was 108253. Nellie married Walter Sanford and lived on McGee Street in Kansas City, Missouri at that time.

Edith CRANDALL was born January 20, 1891. She married Joseph Barnes and they had one daughter who was born in Philadelphia, PA.  The family later moved to Mountainside, New Jersey.
