Annie May HOPKIRK

Annie May HOPKIRK was the second daughter of John HOPKIRK and Harriet THORLEY

Annie May was born on 17 March 1890 in Rock Vale, Colorado. Her first marriage was to Gerald MURRAY at Canon City on 15 October 1906.

Annie May HOPKIRK & Gerald MURRAY had one son:

     James E. MURRAY, born 27 December 1907 in Canon City, Colorado James passed away on 20 May 1983 in Denver, Colorado

Gerald MURRAY was killed in a mining accident prior to 1910.

From the 1910 census we find Annie May HOPKIRK MURRAY, age 21, listed a widow and niece, her son James E. MURRAY,  age 2, listed as grand nephew, Fred J. HOPKIRK, age 18, listed as nephew living with Mary J THORLEY, age 43, single and a proprietor of a grocery store in Denver, Colorado. Mary J. THORLEY is Harriet THORLEY'S sister. Their parents were J.W. THORLEY and Jane THORLEY, both born in England. Harriet and Mary J. also had a younger sister named Emily.


On 16 November 1910 Annie May HOPKIRK MURRAY married Edward M. SIFERS. Edward Manley SIFERS was born 2 July 1886 in Canon City, Colorado.

As of the 1920 census the family is living at West Four Mile, Park County, Colorado. Edward is 33, a farmer, Anna is 28, James, age 12, Ethel, age 7 and Dorothy age 3 3/12.

As of 1930 the family lived in Leadville, Colorado and Edward was a miner. Edward's age at first marriage was 24 and Annie's age was 15 at her first marriage.


Annie May HOPKIRK and Edward M. SIFERS had the following children:

     Ethel V. SIFERS, born 17 November 1912 in Canon City, Colorado and she passed away 25 October 2002 in Phoenix, Arizona

     Dorothy L. SIFERS, born about 1916

     Mabel R. SIFERS, born about 1925


Annie May passed away on  17 July 1955

Edward M. SIFERS passed away in October 1963 in Monte Vista, Colorado
