Lydia HOPKIRK married George SMURTHWAITE on 5 April 1863 at Monk-Wearmouth
Lydia and George had the following known children:

George SMURTHW#AITE, born about 1870
Richard SMURTHWAITE, born about 1872
Lydia SMURTHWAITE, born about 1879
From the 1881 census we find this family living at 3 Carlton
Street(Leeman Road), York, Yorkshire. George senior is a Blacksmith at
an Iron Works, as is his son James.
