The River Tweed and Eildon Hills

The river Tweed separates the towns of Melrose and Gattonside.  The Hopkirk's probably moved to Gattonside after the footbridge over the river Tweed was built in 1826.

The Eildon Hills, probably much the same today as they were when described by Alexander(1823) Hopkirk  in New Zealand when writing to his niece in the USA.
