Samuel HOLLINGSHEAD & Jane Allison WILSON

Samuel HOLLINGSHEAD was born between about 1820 and 1822 at Shaver's Creek, Huntingdon County, PA. From the 1880 census, Samuel's mother was born in Maryland and his father was born in Pennsylvania.

Jane Allison WILSON was born about 1825/6 in Hollidaysburg, Blair County, PA, per her daughter Ellen Barbara HOLLINGSHEAD's death certificate.  From the 1880 census both her parents were born in Pennsylvania. Jane could be the son of Robert WILSON, born 3 June 1788 in Pensylvania and died 7 August 1865 at Frankstown, Blair County, PA. Hollidaysburg and Frankstown border each other. Robert WILSON had a sister Elizabeth WILSON born about 1790 in Huntingdon, PA and a brother John WILSON born about 1794 in Huntingdon County, PA, all to John C. WILSON and Jane SMITH. Jane Smith's mother may have had the maiden name of ALLISON.  John C WILSON died in 1795 and Jane remarried.

Samuel HOLLINGSHEAD and Jane Allison WILSON were married prior to 1847.

From the 1850 census the family is living in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania and Samuel is a Carpenter.
From the 1860 census the family is living in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania and Samuel is a Laborer.His net worth is $30.00. Their post offie in Mount Union.
From the 1870 census the family is living in Walker, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania and Samuel is a farm laborer. His net worth is $150.00. Their post office is McConnellstown
From the 1880 census the family is living in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania and Samuel works on a farm.

Samuel and Jane had the following known children:

     Oliver S. HOLLINGSHEAD, born 19 March 1847 at Huntingdon, PA. Oliver was a Machinist. Oliver's father Samuel was born at Shaver's Creek, PA. and his mother Jane WILSON at Hollidaysburg, Blair County, PA. from Oliver's death certificate, as reported by Frank HOLLINGSHEAD of Mifflin, PA.  (1850, 1860 census)

     Robert C. HOLLINGSHEAD, born 1848/9 (1850, 1860 census)

     Mary A. HOLLINGSHEAD, born 1851/2 (1860, 1870 census) (A domestic Servant in the 1870 census)

     Eliza J. HOLLINGSHEAD, born 1853/4 (1860, 1880 census) (Works at hotel in 1880) (In the 1870 cenus Eliza is a domestic Servant for the C.H and Martha MILLER family in the Huntingdon West Ward.)

     Ann E. HOLLINGSHEAD, born 1855/6 (1860, 1880 census)

     George R. HOLLINGSHEAD, born 1857/8 (1860, 1870 census)

     Susan Caroline HOLLINGSHEAD, born 25 June 1861, from death certificate for Susan Caroline HAMMERS, widow of Alonzo HAMMERS. Father is Samuel HOLLINGSHEAD, born in Pennsylvania and mother is Jane Allison WILSON born in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.(her two siblings report her birth as Blair County, Blair County was created in 1846 out of part of Huntingdon County, so they are probably all correct.)  Susan passed away on 15 September 1947. Lived at 321 Allegheny Street, Huntingdon, PA.   (1870, 1880 census) (In 1880 she is at school)

     William H. HOLLINGSHEAD, born 1863/4 (1870, 1880 census) (in the 1880 census he is a laborer, and unemployed for 10 months)

     Ellen Barbara. HOLLINGSHEAD, born 19 January 1866 from death certificate for Barbara Ellen AFRICA. Father Samuel HOLLINGSHEAD, born in Pennsylvania and mother is Jane WILSON, born in Blair County, Pennsylvania. (1870 census) Wife of Newton AFRICA.
