Mary LEE was born in January 1871 per the 1900 census record. The California death record for Mary LEE BRIDE listed her
birth as 20 September 1861 at Ballylanders, Limerick, Ireland and IGI records
in the Mormon Church lists her birth as 25 February 1861 Ballylanders, Limerick,
Ireland.
The parish records in Ireland she was born on 20 September 1861,
the same as the California death records, the Mormon records say 25
February 1861, while the Ancestry.com records film #101163 say 25
February 1868 and Mary herself says January 1871, and the various
other census records put her birth year around 1870.
So, possibly, the first Mary LEE died, and she is the second Mary LEE born in 1868. Then when she applied for citizenship, maybe they could only find the first record in 1861, and that was used and her ancestors found that record when the death certificate was issued. We will probably never know which date is correct. We have similar problems with her brother Thomas' birth date.
Mary LEE was the sister of Thomas LEE and they both lived in the San Francisco Area.
Mary LEE married Maurice BRIDE around 1894. They had the following children:
James Joseph BRIDE, born 22 July 1895. James passed away on 23 December 1966 in San Francisco, Ca.
William Francis BRIDE, born 24 February 1897. William Francis passed away on 20 November 1982 in Los Angeles, Ca.
Maurice Miles BRIDE, born 26 April 1899. Miles passed away on 3 February 1977 in San Francisco, Ca.
From the 1900 census, we find this family living at 713 Clementina Street, San Francisco, Ca. Morris BRIDE is listed as born February 1856 in Ireland, age 44. He has been in the USA since 1857, a laborer, and was not unemployed during the previous year. Mary is listed as born January 1871, age 29, born in Ireland and arriving in the USA in 1893. They have been married for 6 years and they rent their home.
There is a 1917 draft record for Maurice Miles BRIDE, born 26 April 1899.
In the 1920 census Mary is 50.
Maurice BRIDE passed away on 24 April 1929 in San Francisco, California
The 1930 census finds the family located at 468 Duboce Avenue, owning the home worth about $5,000. Mary is 59(which puts her birth year as 1869/70) and was 23 when she got married. Also living in the home was her son James Bride, age 34, a Chauffer, driving a Taxi.
Mary LEE BRIDE passed away on 26 March 1958 in Santa Clara County, California. The death certificate lists her birthdate as 20 September 1861, in "Other Country" and her mother's maiden name is given as ENGLISH and her father's surname is LEE.
